You can see Mantas in many places around the world. But nowhere else boasts a population of giant mantas that literally seek out interaction with divers and snorkelers. These gentle giants with a wingspan up to 20 feet consistently approach divers for intimate eye-to-eye encounters. If you can be calm and still in the water, you are almost sure to experience what we call “Manta love.” While Mantas are the reason to voyage out to Socorro, there are plenty of other animals to see, including schooling Hammerheads and Silky Sharks, plus 8 other species of Sharks, Bottlenose Dolphins that consistently hang out with divers at certain dive sites, large schools of pelagic fish, and, in season, Humpback Whales.

San Ignacio Lagoon is the primary calving ground for eastern Pacific gray whales and part of Mexico's El Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve. The large concentration of gray whales that reside here each winter are extremely 'friendly,' and regularly approach our small whale watching pangas (skiffs) in a moving display that occurs nowhere else. These whales will steal your heart when they look you in the eye and swim over to interact. The lagoon and surrounding desert are beautiful, and these trips are done in style, offering glamping and luxury camps, with direct 1 hour 50 minute fly-in flights from Cabo San Lucas.

ARRIVAL: You will need to check in at the SeeCreatures Dive Center before 7:00pm on March 24, 2026.
